BITTER END: The end of a rope opposite the end in use.
Whippings - Finish the ends of lines so they don't unravel. Whipping charges are added to all splicing orders when a finished end is requested
Flemish eye, also known as a reeving eye, soft eye, or pull eye, is a non-structural eye splice that can be made at the end of a halyard to help with reeving. It's a temporary eye that allows for a smaller tag line to be attached to the rope, making it easier to pull through the mast for storage, repair, or replacement. It can also be used to quickly connect a mouse line to the halyard at the cockpit end (RECOMMEND!)
Hot knife will give your ropes a professional look and the rope will not fray after use.
